The New Stop of T3 Foundation’s Science and Technology Journey is in Africa!
The Turkish Technology Team Foundation (T3 Foundation) continues to carry its experience in science and technology education beyond borders. Implemented to strengthen cooperation in education, culture, and technology between Turkiye and Mauritania, Bilim Nouakchott was opened with an official ceremony. The center will bring Mauritanian youth together with science and technology, contributing to the upbringing of young talents who will strengthen Africa’s science and technology ecosystem.
The official opening of Bilim Nouakchott and the DENEYAP Makers Lab located within this center, which were brought to life as part of the Turkiye-Mauritania Education and Culture Forum, was held in Nouakchott, the capital of Mauritania. Established in cooperation with the T3 Foundation and the Mauritanian Ministry of Vocational Training, Crafts, and Trades, the center aims to develop the skills of young people in the fields of science, technology, and innovation.
The opening ceremony held at the Technical Education and Vocational Training School was attended by Prof. Dr. Burhan Köroğlu, Ambassador of the Republic of Turkiye to Nouakchott; Dr. Serdar Çam, Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Turkiye; Prof. Dr. Cihad Demirli, Deputy Minister of National Education of the Republic of Turkiye; Mohamed Maalainine Ould Eyih, Mauritanian Minister of Vocational Training, Crafts, and Trades; Dr. Elvan Kuzucu Hıdır, Chairperson of the T3 Foundation Board of Directors, along with representatives from public, educational, and non-governmental organizations of Turkiye and Mauritania. During the ceremony, which also included delegations from the Turkish Maarif Foundation and the Yunus Emre Institute, the importance of the cooperations developed between Turkiye and Mauritania in the fields of education, culture, and technology was highly emphasized.
Educational models of the National Technology Initiative meet Mauritanian youth
In the speeches delivered at the ceremony, it was stated that bringing Turkiye's experience in science and technology education together with Mauritania's young population will make significant contributions to the friendship and cooperation between the two countries. Speaking at the opening, Dr. Elvan Kuzucu Hıdır, Chairperson of the T3 Foundation Board of Directors, stated: "As the T3 Foundation, we attach great importance to further strengthening this cooperation in the fields of education, science, and technology. In all the works we carry out at our foundation, we aim to raise generations that research, produce, and benefit both their country and humanity. We believe that the best way to unlock the potential of children and youth is to provide them with environments where they can be curious, experiment, and produce. Bilim Nouakchott is a result of this very understanding."
Following the speeches, the opening ribbon was cut with the participation of protocol members. After the opening, the protocol delegation visited the Bilim Turkiye Workshop and the DENEYAP Makers Lab within Bilim Nouakchott to inspect the ongoing educational activities on-site.
By bringing the Bilim Turkiye and DENEYAP Makers Lab educational models, which are successfully implemented in Turkiye under the leadership of the T3 Foundation, to Mauritania, it is aimed to introduce African youth to scientific thinking, technology development, and a culture of production from an early age.
The first science center in Africa and the 7th outside of Turkiye: Bilim Nouakchott!
Being a first in Africa and established as the 7th science center outside of Turkiye, Bilim Nouakchott will offer young people the opportunity to learn by experiencing in the themes of astronomy and aviation, natural sciences, mathematics, and design and technology. Students will discover the connection between science and daily life, developing their skills in questioning, researching, and discovering through practical training.
In the DENEYAP Makers Lab, students will receive training in different technological fields, particularly robotics, coding, artificial intelligence, and design and production. Young people will directly experience designing, developing, and producing processes by turning the knowledge and skills they acquire into original projects.
Bringing the educational models developed in line with Turkiye's National Technology Initiative vision together with the youth of different geographies, the T3 Foundation has added a new link to its science and technology journey in Mauritania with the Bilim Nouakchott center. The center is aimed to strengthen the technology and education cooperation between the two countries while contributing to raising Mauritanian youth as the scientists, engineers, and technology entrepreneurs of the future.
