Sky Enthusiasts Meet at Yamaçtepe!

The first Science Türkiye Yamaçtepe Sky Observation Festival organized by the Technology Team Foundation of Türkiye and Şahinbey Municipality was held in Gaziantep.

Türkiye Technology Team (T3) Foundation Chairman Elvan Kuzucu Hıdır, Şahinbey Mayor Mehmet Tahmazoğlu, Türkiye's first Astronaut Alper Gezeravcı, second Astronaut Tuva Cihangir Atasever, Türkiye Space Agency (TUA) Board of Directors and Agency Chairman Yusuf Kıraç, TUA Board Member Arif Karabeyoğlu, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Selçuk Topal and young sky enthusiasts attended the festival.

During the observation festival, the Sun was observed during the day and the Moon, the satellite of our Earth, the planets Mars, Jupiter and Saturn, the Andromeda Galaxy, meteor showers and many other celestial bodies were observed at night. In addition to the observation activities, participants enjoyed the festival with different astronomy and science-themed activities in the Science Workshops, camping experience in nature and various activities in the campground.

The three-day-long Bilim Türkiye Yamaçtepe Sky Observation Festival offered a rich experience to participants of all ages. The event featured workshops on traditional astronomy tools such as the Sun Dial and Astrolabe, which drew significant interest. In addition to sky observations, attendees had the opportunity to participate in informative and inspiring talks led by experts from various fields of astronomy. This event provided a unique learning and discovery opportunity for both science enthusiasts and newcomers alike.
