National Technology Summit at Galatasaray University: Cybersecurity and Data Sovereignty Discussed

Organized in collaboration with the T3 Foundation, TEKNOFEST Club, and Galatasaray University under the coordination of the SKS Department, the National Technology Summit was held with the theme “Cybersecurity and Data Sovereignty.” Bringing together academia, industry, and youth on the same platform, the summit concluded with strong participation and great interest.

The session was moderated by Dr. Sultan N. Turhan, with Mahmut Esat Yılmaz, Orhan Çetin, and Mahmut Küçük taking part as panelists.

During the summit, it was emphasized that cybersecurity is not merely a technical issue, and that data sovereignty is one of the fundamental pillars of countries’ digital independence. Within this context—addressed through legal, technical, and strategic dimensions—key topics such as the protection of personal data, critical infrastructure security, and the importance of indigenous and national solutions were comprehensively discussed. In addition, the evolving dynamics of the digital world, the strategic role of data security, and the necessity of robust technological infrastructures were examined in detail.

Participating students had the opportunity to engage directly with field experts and gain a multidimensional perspective on the cybersecurity ecosystem. Q&A sessions and interactive discussions enabled young participants to explore the sector in depth and find answers to their questions.

As one of the key stops of the National Technology Summit, Galatasaray University once again demonstrated its strong position within the TEKNOFEST ecosystem through hosting the event. The summit aimed to increase young people’s interest in technology while contributing to the development of the human capital that will shape Türkiye’s digital future.
